FOREST PARK, Ga — 30 year-old Jermaine Jones o/c Jay from Forest Park is now behind bars for the fatal stabbing of his wife on Springview Drive Wednesday night.
The deceased has been identified as 47 year-old Opal Fern Christian-Jones.
According to the police, Opal was stabbed several times that her neck was almost severed from the rest of her body.
Later that night, Jones called 911 from Holiday Boulevard and admitted to committing a murder. Deputies found him there in bloody clothes and took him into custody.
The witness in this case said he tried to stop Jones before running for his life.
Clayton County Sheriff Victor Hill said he will ask prosecutors to consider the death penalty in this case.
Jones o/c Jay is a past student of May Day High in Manchester and Opal is a past student of Steths in St. Elizabeth Jamaica.
