Truck Overturns off Flat Bridge

The infamous Flat Bridge located in Bog Walk, St. Catherine –  is once again the scene of an accident, this time involving a motor truck which went over into the Rio Cobre river.

{xtypo_dropcap}R{/xtypo_dropcap}eports revealed that around 10 pm yesterday, a motor truck failed to negotiate the crossing and went tumbling off the bridge

No one has yet been reported hurt from the incident.

The heavy rains being experienced of lately has caused the waters of the Rio Cobre river to rise exponentially, leaving the truck fully submerged.

Operations have been scheduled for later today to remove the vehicle from the river, which is expected to cause the roadway to be closed temporarily.

Alternative routes, including the newly developed toll road can be taken to travel to and from Spanish Town.

In July of the year, six persons died while travelling along the bridge.

Plans have been announced by the NWA to spend approximately JMD 3 million to make the bridge safer for motorist.
