The Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) has lost the South East St Mary seat in the final tally by the Electoral Commission of Jamaica, according to People's National Party (PNP) deputy general secretary Julian Robinson.
Robinson said the seat is now held by the PNP's Winston Green by a 12-vote majority. Green went up against the JLP’s Norman Dunn.
"JUST IN: Winston Green won S.E St. Mary by 12 votes in the final count," Robinson tweeted on Saturday night, noting that the drop has removed the slim JLP majority in the lower house.
It would mean that the overall seat count is now 32 to 31 in favour of the JLP
However, Dunn took to Facebook at about 11:30 pm, denying that a winner had been declared.
"An official winner of the Southeast St Mary seat has NOT yet been declared by the Electoral Commission...Let us wait on the final position from the EOJ," Dunn said.
