Lawmen are probing a bizarre incident in which a policeman was held up by gunmen who took his service pistol, removed the bullets, and handed back the empty weapon to him last week.
The high drama took place during a break-in at the policeman's home in Bog Walk, St Catherine.
"Yes, him really lucky, and it's not funny, but God was in the midst as the gunman said a only the bullets them did want still," a colleague of the policeman told The Star. Many others believed it must have been divine intervention why the lawman is still alive today.
According to reports reaching The Star, the policeman had retired to bed, when the gunmen broke into the dwelling in the wee hours of the morning. It is understood that the cop was awoken by one of the hoodlums who had taken up the cop's service firearm and was pointing it at him.
It is understood that the man then removed the bullets from the service pistol, and threw back the weapon to the policeman.
Police have confirmed that they have launched an investigation into the incident, and are working quickly to find the hoodlums and bring them to justice.
