17-Y-O Among 3 Died in Plane Crash; Portland Mourns Its Tragic Loss

Romone Forbes would have celebrated his 18th birthday on November 20 but tragically he didn't make it. The Portland-born Forbes, who had dreams of becoming a pilot, succumbed to the injuries he received in a plane crash on Thursday.

Forbes attended Titchfield for six years from first to sixth form. He left the institution as a lower sixth former last year to attend flight school.

"When we got the news this morning that he passed it really saddened the entire community," Thompson said.

He said teachers and students were in tears.

Forbes, who is from Castle District, Priestman's River, Portland, was among three persons aboard the small fixed-wing aircraft that developed mechanical difficulties and crashed in the Greenwich Town area.

All three sustained serious injuries and were taken to the Kingston Public Hospital.

Jonathan Worton, 31, flight instructor of Boone Hall Road, Stony Hill, St Andrew and 19-year-old Dansheer Gilmore of Ocean Hill, St Ann, were pronounced dead on arrival.

Forbes was admitted in critical condition but later succumbed to his injuries.
