This also follows statement release from J Wray & Nephew Ltd:
Following the confirmation of the first case of the novel coronavirus/ COVID-19 in Jamaica, J. Wray & Nephew Limited can confirm that a contractor based at our Spanish Town Road facility has been in close contact with patient zero.
The contractor has been placed in quarantine by the Ministry of Health and we are in on-going dialogue with the Government of Jamaica to assess and monitor the situation.
In light of these developments a decision has been made to close all our operations in SC Kingston tomorrow and effective March 11, 2020 we have also moved to implement our Smart Working Policy. Under this policy, all staff members who are able to work remotely will be encouraged to do so.
As an extra layer of protection to our value employees we will also be sanitizing key areas of our operations that the exposed contractor may have made contact with in an effort to reduce the potential spread of COVID-19.
