Robber Armed With Knife Shot Dead in Downtown Kingston; Firearm Seized

A man who reportedly attacked members of a police party with a knife, during a robbery attempt in downtown Kingston, on Sunday, April 14, was fatally shot by one of the officers.

The dead robber has been identified as 24-year-old Tajay Brown of no fixed address.

Reports by the police are that, shortly after 11:00 a.m. on Sunday, a team of officers was on patrol in downtown Kingston, when they got a report that a robbery was in progress along Duke Street.

The police responded and upon their arrival to the area, they saw three men, two of whom ran.

The other man was cornered by the lawmen. He launched an attacked on the officers armed with a knife where he was shot.

A search of the area led to the arrest of another of the robbers who had fled the scene earlier.

An illegal firearm was said to have been taken from him by the police.

Brown was later rushed to hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
