ST ANN, Jamaica — The police have detained the parents of a three-year-old girl who died at the St Ann's Bay Hospital on Saturday.
According to the constabulary's Corporate Communications Unit (CCU), young Athena Forbes, who lived in Montego Bay, St James, was travelling with her parents to Portland when she reportedly fell ill and was taken to the hospital.
While being medically examined, she was observed to have bruises and swelling on her body and the police were notified, CCU said.
She subsequently succumbed and her body removed to the morgue for post mortem.
Investigators probing the matter have since taken her parents into custody for questioning.
