Man Shot Dead; Girlfriend Shot And Injured; Jealous Ex Turns Self in

A man was shot dead and his girlfriend injured in Glendevon, St. James after they were attacked by a man who is said to be in a previous relationship with female.

According to reports, 40 year old Nigel Williams, a contractor from Whitehouse district in Westmoreland in the company of his girlfriend were sitting in his silver Nissan Station Wagon at about 8:10 p.m when a man approached the vehicle armed with a gun where he opened fired at both occupants through an open window then walked away.

The woman was shot several times and has been admitted to hospital in serious condition.

The female managed to run from the car to a nearby dwelling,where she was found suffering from gunshot wounds, including to her chest, and was rushed to hospital by the police, who were quick on the scene.

The police found Mr. Williams slumped around the steering wheel of the car with gunshot wounds to the face and upper body, he died on the spot.

The suspect, a 35-year-old man of a Cambridge, St. James address later turned himself over to the police.

The woman had ended a rocky relationship with her ex-boyfriend with whom she shares a child, but he has refused to accept that the relationship is over.

He reportedly made overtures to her to take him back, but she had spurned his attempts and moved on with Williams.

The suspect is alleged to have trailed William’s vehicle on Friday to Glendevon, where the woman is said to have been staying with relatives.
