13-Year-Old Boy Had No Sign He Would Snap or Kill His Own Mother

BERKSHIRE, Westmoreland — Micai Stone has been left sadden since Wednesday night learning that his mother, 48-year-old Patrenia McDonald, a farmer, died as a result of multiple stab wounds she received at her home.

To make matters worse, his brother, a 13-year-old St Elizabeth Technical High School student (name not released), has been taken into police custody for questioning in connection with his mother's grisly murder.

The police responded to a call about 7:15 pm where a woman, identified as McDonald, had been stabbed multiple times by an attacker while in her bedroom.

The police later learnt that she had been at home with her 13-year-old son when the attack occurred.

“McDonald was taken to hospital where she was subsequently pronounced dead and the son taken into custody, and is being questioned, based on preliminary investigation,” Superintendent McKenzie said.

The news of his mother's death has stumped Stone, who lives with his paternal grandparents a short distance away from where his parents and 13-year-old brother live in the normally quiet farming community.

“I was here when they came and told me that something happened to my mother, and I went to her home and found her body. She was in her room on the floor,” the traumatised Stone said.

“I was told that someone tried to rob her, that it was attempted rape, and then I heard it was my brother who did it.

But Stone said that his younger sibling has never shown any signs that he could do an act such as this.

“He has never shown any signs of being a violent person. My brother was always a calm individual, playful, so I don't understand where all this is coming from,” the grieving young man said.

“This has left me in a state of awe. I am shocked, I can't believe that this is happening.”
