St James, Jamaica — A joint military operation which was carried out at a section of Spring Mount in St James, on November 22, resulted in the seizure of two assault rifles and police fatigues.
Our news team also learned that over a dozen men, who are all believed to be involved in gang activities in the area, were taken into custody during the operation.
Reports are that between the hours of 12:00 noon to 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, a joint team consisting of Jamaica Defense Force soldiers and Jamaica Constabulary Force officers, carried out an operation at sections of Spring Mount community, known as Union Street and Red Square.
During the operation, several houses were searched and over a dozen men were taken into custody.
The police also recovered two assault rifles and various police fatigues.
One police source disclosed that over a period of time, a number of gang rivalry has been taking place in the area between men from opposing gangs.
Some of the men arrested are believed to be members of active gangs such as Brothers for life, the formula, headless and true tree gangs.
