St Elizabeth, Jamaica — One man was shot and burnt to death on Tuesday morning, November 6, after gunmen shot up a family house at Long Common in Bogue, St. Elizabeth.
Dead is 35-year-old Mauri Campbell, farmer of Long Common in Bogue, St Elizabeth.
Reports by the Balaclava police are that about 1:50 a.m. on Monday, Campbell and other family members were asleep in their eight apartment dwelling house, when they were awoken by smoke and fire which was coming from a section of the house.
The family members ran from their beds, but while attempting to exit the doorway, they were greeted by gunfire from armed men who stood waiting on the outside.
Campbell was shot and he ran back inside the house where he collapsed and was burnt to death.
The remaining family members managed to escape from the burning house without being shot.
The police and fire Department were summoned and upon their arrival, the firemen managed to extinguished the blaze and later removed Campbell’s charred body from the burnt rubbles in one of the bedrooms.
The house and a Toyota Corolla motor car which was parked on the outside were destroyed by the fire.
No motive has yet been established for this latest killing.
