A 40-year-old man who was doused with acid at his home in Love Lane in St James on June has sucummed to his injuries at Hospital after 95% of his body was badly burnt with the corrosive substance.
Marvin Hooper, otherwise called “Dukie” was left partially deaf and blind before his death.
The accused who was set upon and chopped almost to death by angry residents, later escaped from hospital, after being admitted under police guard.
According to police reports, on the day of June 4, Hooper was at his home when the accused called him from his house, immediately as Hooper came to the gate, he was doused with a bucket of corrosive substance.
Residents in the community held the attacker and took matters in their own hands chopping him to pieces. The police were summoned and upon arrival, Hooper and the accused were both rushed to hospital where they were admitted.
Hooper condition was so grave that doctors at the hospital had to mesh his environment preventing insects from eating away at his wounds.
