A killer crocodile might be on the prowl in the Hellshire Pond area of Portmore, St Catherine. The police have confirmed that 67-year-old Wilford Edmondson was the victim of a deadly crocodile attack on Sunday morning.
There was an air of sadness in the community of Smith Lane in Portmore as community members reminisced about the life of 67-year-old Wilford Edmondson.
His life was cut short after he went fishing early Sunday morning.
According to THE STAR, about 9:30 a.m. Edmondson and another man went spearfishing in the Hellshire pond. It was reported that he was standing on the edge of the pond when he was attacked and dragged into the pond by the crocodile.
His body was found and retrieved by the Marine police.
His wife of 19 years, Carlene Edmondson, described him as a lovely man, who was hard working and willing to do anything for his family.
“He is such a good man. He goes all out for his family. Yesterday when this incident happens, he was on the hunt for food. He doesn’t want his family to be hungry,” she said.
Like his wife, Pauline McCalla, who has known him for more than 20 years, said that she was heartbroken when she heard the news. She said that they often sit and converse about everything, laugh and have a good time.
“He is a blessed little man. I just can't believe he was killed by a crocodile,” she said.
