The Hanover police have reported that, a Psychiatric evaluation has been ordered to be carried out on Paul Coote,  the  61-year-old fisherman and car washer of a Cove Road address in Green Island, who reportedly chopped his pregnant baby-mother and his two children to death  on Wednesday morning, April 25, 2018.

Our news team also learnt that, based on the nature of the case which was slated to be presented in the Green Island Magistrate Court on Wednesday, the investigating team attached to the Area One Major Investigation Division switch courtrooms to the Lucea Parish Court, and also rolled back Coote’s first appearance in court to last Thursday, May 3.

We also learnt that a popular Human Rights Group came forward and acquired the services of two Attorney-at-law for the accused man.

Coote was charged on April 29th with three counts of murder.  He has been charged with the murders of his common-law wife Adanique Cunningham, 38-year-old unemployed of Dixon Wharf and her two children 7-year-old Jayanna Cooke and 4-year-old Shanique Coote, otherwise called “Keisha”.

It is reported that shortly after 7:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 25, the baby-mother who was presently living with her mother in the same community went to Coote’s home to get her two daughters ready for school.

It is further reported that, an argument developed between Coote and the woman, over her being eight months pregnant by another man in the community.

Coote who was chopping his yard at the time of the argument, chased his common-law wife and used the machete to chop her severely to death.  He then turned on his own two children who were crying and also chopped them to death.

The 61-year-old man was later cornered by angry residents, who discovered what was taking place and later turned him over to the police who were called on the scene.
