Police say they have stepped up their search for criminals who robbed and then chopped to death a popular bus operator in Retreat, St Mary.
The dead man has been identified as Michael Walker, alias Jahmikes, a 47-year-old man, who is originally from Salem, Runaway Bay in St Ann.
Police say Walker, who operates a bus in and around St Mary, was found suffering from chop wounds along one of his regular routes last Thursday.
He was rushed to hospital where he was battling for life but later died while being treated.
Police say their initial probe revealed that several personal items belonging to Walker, including money and a cellular phone were stolen, when he was attacked
Police say since the attack they have stepped up their search for the perpetrators and are calling on residents in the parish to provide any information that could assist them in their probe.
And as police dig deeper for clues residents have taken to social to voice their concern over the attack.
"Michael Jahmikes Walker rest in peace me bredda. I wish I cud see you alive one more time again and we drink a one Guinness together.... sighhh smh."
Another post read, "May his soul rest in peace and memories continue resonate each and every day."
Meanwhile, another friend of the deceased man lamented on the senseless killings across St Mary.
"St Mary in the news so much these days for negatives and here I would never imagine my dear friend Michael (Walker) would join in and just gone so. Tears to my eyes. Smh. How could they kill him like that? He did no one anything. I am tired of these killings. Tired, tired rip Michael," the post read.
St Mary has recorded twelve murders since the start of the year.
