3 Jamaican Men Held for Stealing 10 pigs And Stuffing Them In a Motor Van in St Ann The Ocho Rios police arrested 3 men in connection with the theft of at least 10 pigs, in Steer Town St Ann earlier this afternoon (October 18).
The dead pigs were found inside a Suzuki motor van and appeared to have been hit in their heads with a hammer. Head of the Ocho Rios police DSP Gary McKenzie says investigators found the hammer beside the animals in the back of the vehicle.
DSP McKenzie says a police team on patrol in Chalky Hill, observed 3 men in a van behaving suspiciously. He says 2 of the men alighted from the vehicle and were later accosted, while the driver sped away.
The van was later found abandoned in Steer Town and upon investigation of the vehicle, the pigs were found.
DSP McKenzie says further investigations lead to the apprehension of the driver. He says police have reason to believe the pigs were stolen from the Runaway Bay area.
He adds that the 3 men are not from St. Ann, and the police have noticed a trend where persons from outside the parish, are coming over to commit crimes.
DSP McKenzie says the men face charges relating to praedial larceny and having a fraudulent license plate on the van.
