Couple Killed And House Set On Fire In front of 10-Y-O Daughter

The St Catherine police are continuing their probe into a double murder after a 42-year-old man, along with his common-law wife, was shot and killed and their house set ablaze by gunmen in Victoria district near Linstead on Tuesday night.

The deceased have been identified as Carlos Wilks, a landscaper, and his common-law wife, 47-year-old Dorette Doyley, a domestic helper, both of Breezy Hill, Victoria district in the parish.

Reports are that at about 5:00 a.m., both Wilks and Doyley were at home along with their 10-year-old daughter, when armed men kicked in the door and entered the house.  

The gunmen shot the couple in their upper bodies.

They took the young girl from the house before setting it on fire and making their escape.

Residents of the area later alerted the police and fire personnel to the scene.

The bodies of Wilks and Doyley were subsequently found.
