Gunmen Rampage Party Killing Cop in Ewarton, St Catherine

A police officer was shot and killed at a party in Ewarton, St Catherine early Tuesday morning. He has been identified as Constable Courtney Linton, 35, of the Counter Terrorism and Organised Crime division of the Jamaica Constabulary Force.

Linton was reportedly at a party sometime around 12:30 am in the Orangefield community, where he resided, when a group of gunmen pounced and opened gunfire, hitting the cop and another man while others ran for cover.

The gunmen allegedly pumped more bullets into Linton as he was lying injured along the roadway, killing him on the spot, before making their escape in a motor vehicle.

The injured patron was taken to hospital and is receiving treatment. His injury is not considered life threatening. 

Linstead police are investigating. More details later.
