Reid has been charged with robbery with aggravation, possession of a prohibited weapon and using a prohibited weapon to commit an offence.
Reports from the Santa Cruz police are that about 7:55 am, Reid and three other men held up and robbed a man of his licensed firearm.
The men then attempted to rob a supermarket. However, when they made their demands, they were not met.
Reid then reportedly hit the complainant multiple times in his face.
Later that same day, Reid turned up at hospital with a gunshot wound.
The police were summoned and on their arrival, it was discovered that Reid had accidentally shot himself.
He was treated and released to the police.
Reid was positively identified at an identification parade on Thursday, April 27, and was subsequently slapped with the slew of criminal charges.
His court date is being finalized.
