A 28-year-old Portland farmer allegedly stabbed his girlfriend after accusing her of cheating.

Quton Smith of Red Hassle Road, Port Antonio, was arrested and charged on the weekend with wounding with intent, following an incident that occurred in Duncan Hill in the parish on December 28.

Reports are that about 8:30 p.m., Smith's girlfriend went to a relative's house to pick up her child.

Smith showed up and started accusing her of cheating, during which an argument developed between them.

Smith reportedly pulled a ratchet knife and started stabbing the woman all over her body.

The woman was taken to the hospital where she was admitted and treated. Smith's court date will be announced at a later date.
