Private Killed After Disarming 1 of 2 Armed Gunmen in Attempt Robbery

An off-duty 3jr, rank JDF soldier was shot and killed by a group of gunmen at a section of Linstead in St Catherine on Tuesday night of July 10th.

He has been identified as, Private David Howard, a 3jr ranking officer.

Reports by the St Catherine police are that on Tuesday night, a group of armed robbers went to a family house in Linstead and held up a family at gunpoint.

The men reportedly tied up the family members after which they robbed them. While leaving the area, the gunmen came upon Howard and a group of women who were standing in the lane.

The gunmen reportedly held Howard and the women at gunpoint, and forced them back inside a house in the area. Howard attacked one of the gunmen and managed to disarm him, but his crony who was on the outside rushed inside the building and shot the JDF soldier to his lower body.

The wounded soldier fell to the ground and the gunman fired two other shots hitting him to his upper body. The gunmen then escaped in the area on foot.
