16-Y-O Schoolgirl Slashed 17-Y-O's Throat After Fight Outside School Gate

Two schoolgirls were involved in a near-fatal altercation in St Catherine earlier this week that left one of them hospitalised and the other facing juvenile court.

One of the schoolgirls, a 17 year-old, is now getting medical treatment at a hospital after her throat was slashed during the altercation. The police have arrested a 16-year-old minor in relation to the incident.

The police report that there was an altercation on Wednesday which began at about 12:20 pm on the compound of Eltham High School in Spanish Town. At about 2:15 pm, the altercation continued outside the school gate.

The accused, a 16 year-old minor, slashed the complainant's throat and also cut the complainant's hand.

"The complainant held onto the knife while her throat was being cut," a representative of the Constabulary Communication Unit said.

The complainant received assistance from a passing police unit which took her to the hospital where she was treated.

The accused was later bailed and will appear in the Portmore Juvenile Court on Thursday, June 28th.
