The Portland police are in search of the persons behind the second murder in the parish this year, but in the process, have the unenviable task of tracking down a group of students who are reported to have viciously beaten a man to death in the Port Antonio bus park on Thursday.
The deceased has been identified as 20-year-old Kerone Dixon, who was reportedly set upon and beaten and stabbed in the region of the chest by the group of at least a dozen male students from a prominent high school in the parish.
Police reports pointed to the deceased as having been involved in a dispute with one of the students, who allegedly owed him money.
The violent attack occurred about 5:30 p.m., with reports emerging that the man’s face was smashed by the students, who kept inflicting blows on him even after he laid motionless on the ground.
He was pronounced dead at hospital.
The police have since appealed for persons with any information about the killing to come forward to assist with the investigation.
