Cop Shot Multiple Times During Robbery Attempt in Newland, Portmore

A police constable assigned to the Mobile Reserve was hospitalised late Thursday night after being shot during an attempted robbery in Portmore, St Catherine.

Reports are that the cop was among a group of friends in the Newland area at around 11:30 pm, when they were held up by three men, one of whom was armed with a gun.

During an ensuing struggle between the defiant police officer and the armed man, the cop was shot multiple times, according to reports.

The men then reportedly fled the scene and the cop was rushed to hospital.

The condition of the cop is not known at this time.
