A female police constable was yesterday taken into custody after she allegedly shot and injured a male police constable yesterday.
According to reports, the two officers were said to be romantically involved.
The wounded District Constable was identified as Duran Smith, stationed at the Old Harbour Police.
He was shot by the female constable at approximately 3:00 am, after she went to his house in Old Harbour Bay, St. Catherine – accusing the constable of being unfaithful in their relationship.
During the altercation, the female officer allegedly pulled her service pistol and shot Smith in the back of his neck.
She was subsequently taken into custody and her service pistol seized. But the female constable is yet to be charged.
Smith has been admitted to the Spanish Town Hospital in serious condition.
