Toddler Begged Doctors For Her Life After Being Shot Sunday: 'I don't want to die'

A distraught aunt expressed how her five-year-old niece begged medical personnel to save her life after being shot in West Kingston on Sunday.

"When they were rushing with her in the hospital she turned to one of the medical persons and said, ‘doctor I don’t want to die; doctor am I going to live?’” said the aunt.

The little girl was reportedly shot in the hands and upper body when gunmen – travelling on motorcycles - opened fire in the community. She was among four people shot and injured.

Twenty four hours later, the girl is said to be battling bravely in hospital, in serious but stable condition.

"Reports we are getting is that doctors are working round the clock on her and we are praying," the aunt told The News Team.

Residents of the volatile community have praised the fighting spirit of the child.

"Imagine she was doing her hair to go back to school when gunman just walked up and opened fire. Even when she got shot the child got up and walked into her home and then collapsed,” one man said.
