Man In Early 20s Jumped From The May Pen Bridge In Clarendon

The Clarendon police is investigating a suspected suicide following the discovery of an unidentified body below the May Pen rail road bridge in Clarendon this morning.

According to reports the deceased who is said to be in his early 20s and clad in a red shirt and brown pants, dismounted a taxi travelling from the Palmer Cross area into May Pen, and after a brief phone conversation, jumped from the bridge, that crosses the Rio Minho River, and die on the spot.

Passers-by who saw the body alerted the police, who responded to the distress call and removed the deceased to the morgue.

“We got a called sometime after 9 this morning that there was a body in the river, when we arrived we found him with what appears to be multiple broken limbs. While we have just opened an investigation into this incident, we believe he may have committed suicide, however, we are awaiting a post mortem to aid us in our investigation,” a police officer mentioned.

The police are also appealing to anyone who may have witness the incident or knows the deceased to contact the May Pen police or the nearest police station.

The May Pen Rail Road bride is fast becoming a jump-off point for persons who want to end their lives , with scores of persons reportedly jumped from the high rise bridge in recent times.
