GUN BATTLE: 7 Persons Including 2 Gunmen Shot at `Fish Fry` in Hanover

One or the two alleged gunslingers who reportedly engaged each other in a blazing gunfight at a fish fry in Hanover last week, is still admitted in hospital under police guard.

The other alleged combatant remains behind bars awaiting a question-and-answer session in the presence of his attorney.

Reports were that about 1:30 a.m. on Sunday, December 17, patrons attending a fish fry in Mount Pelier, Sandy Bay, Hanover, had to scamper for cover when two men who were engaged in a heated dispute, pulled guns and began shooting at each other.

When the shooting died down, seven persons, including the two alleged gunmen, were found suffering from gunshot wounds, and were taken to the Noel Holmes Hospital in the parish capital, Lucea.

Subsequently, six of the injured patrons, including one of the two men, were released from the hospital. While the suspect who was released from the hospital was placed in police custody, his rival is still awaiting a similar transition.

The promoter of the fish fry, who reportedly had no police permit to stage the public entertainment event, has since been charged with at least two offences, and is soon to appear in court to answer to the charges.
