A St Andrew man is facing a murder charge after allegedly dousing his estranged lover with a corrosive substance that has resulted in her death from extreme burns.
The deceased is 30-year-old Teri Ann Morris of Greenwich Farm, St Andrew, while 39-year-old Richard Salmon of Seaview Gardens, also in the parish, is facing an upgrade from a wounding charge to one of murder.
According to an article from loop, on September 21 this year, Morris, who was a cashier at a prominent local mega store, was asleep at her home with her eight-year-old daughter, who is also Salmon’s child, when Salmon allegedly entered the dwelling and doused her with a chemical substance.
Morris died of her injuries, which involved severe burns to almost her entire body, in the Kingston Public Hospital on Wednesday. Her daughter, who was also injured when the corrosive substance got splashed on her, remains hospitalised in a serious condition.
It is alleged that the attack was carried out because Morris had ended her relationship with Salmon.
The accused is due back in court on October 17.
